About Me:

I am an associate professor and the coordinator of the Educational Resources Center (ERC), housed in Gary A. Ransdell Hall 1073. I am the WKU Libraries' librarian liaison for the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, except for Psychology and Military Science.

I am happy to provide ERC tours and library research tutorials for classes, small groups, and individuals. Feel free to email me to set up a library session.

Research Interests:

• Children’s and Young Adult literature: Developing library collections in various genres for a diverse audience of young readers; encouraging reluctant readers

• Bibliotherapy

  International library collaborations: From 2005-2008, I was part of an international exchange between WKU-SEK Collegi Catalunya, Spain, to help develop English language school library and classroom collections.
• Librarians as teachers: Collaboration and research projects in K-12 and postsecondary educational environments
• Developing and implementing methods of promoting library services and collections to the community. For example, email newsletters, exhibits and displays, library blogs, etc.
• Bibliotherapy/reading guidance: Librarians’ roles in helping young readers cope with emotional situations by identifying with characters and situations in children’s and young adult literature.
