Data Visualization

What is data visualization?

Data visualization is an easy, effective way to display chunks of information.

Why does it matter?

There are many reasons why we should visualize data! Our sense of vision probably is the most dominant of all our other senses in life.

  1. Humans are often good at picking up patterns.
  2. It helps tell your story.
  3. It shows off your data at a glance rather than someone reading through every observation.

What can I use to make visuals?

Many software and programs exist to create data visualizations. Below is a short list of software you can use.

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Google Sheets
  • SPSS*
  • SAS*
  • Mathematica*
  • MATLAB*
  • ArcGIS
