Test Prep - Fundamentals of Engineering Exam

The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is generally your first step in the process to becoming a professional licensed engineer (P.E.). It is designed for recent graduates and students who are close to finishing an undergraduate engineering degree from an EAC/ABET-accredited program. The FE exam is a computer-based exam administered year-round at NCEES-approved Pearson VUE test centers.

The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing professional licensure for engineers and surveyors.


Kentucky

The Kentucky Board of Engineers & Land Surveyors is the primary exam administrator for the commonwealth. The following are important webpages about obtaining your certification from them:


Education Requirement - Accredited Degree Programs

One important criterion for obtaining your certification is the education requirement. WKU has four degree accredited programs with the ABET that satisfies this criterion:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with concentration in Systems/Scientific Applications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
