"Read and Publish" agreements combine subscription costs with open access publishing costs. These agreements mean the WKU Libraries' subscription costs also cover Open Access article processing charges. WKU faculty can publish Open Access in the journals covered by these agreements for no charge.
Because WKU is a primarily undergraduate institution and subscribes to the ACS All Publications package, ACS is offering Open Access publishing to all WKU researchers in any ACS journal at no cost.
Article processing fees for hybrid Springer journals are covered for WKU faculty and current WKU students through the Library's participation in the Lyrasis consortium's Springer Nature Transformative Agreement. Note that the "corresponding author" MUST be the WKU faculty member or current student in order for the APC to be waived.
Authors should select "Western Kentucky University" from the drop-down list of participating institutions, and will be authenticated by IP address and email domain.
Through our agreement with The Company of Biologists, WKU faculty can submit unlimited fee-free open access research articles to 3 subscriptions publications (Journal of Cell Science, Journal of Experimental Biology, and Development) in addition to two Open Access titles, Disease Models & Mechanisms and Biology Open. Articles published openly will be immediately made open access with no embargo period and will be deposited in PubMed Central upon acceptance.
For more information, please visit The Company of Biologists' site.
Article processing fees for ACM journals are covered for WKU faculty and current WKU students through the Library's participation in the Midwest Collaborative Library Services' Transformative Agreement.
Authors must use their wku.edu email address in order to prevent the system from requesting payment for article processing fees when they submit an article for publishing.
